On the road…

Today we were traveling the whole day by car to get the material. We were driving down on dirt roads for what seemed to be five hours, where one hole was next to another. I did not count how many times we have bumped the road. 40 km drive and you are in the middle of nowhere…. This day was also a very instructive day. The area in which we were traveling is very sparse and the people poor. There is nothing except quarries, so land degradation. It is a very dry area. Again and again we see some small settlements, people sit together or in front of their small store and wait. Here you spend the whole day while waiting and waiting. Waiting for customers, wait for something to happen, wait for the evening, wait…. We arrived at the quarry and there were new impressions. I find it difficult to find the right words, since I show the people here my utmost respect.
This is hard work that is done here.
I once again become aware of how lucky we are in Germany.

To all complainers, whiners and “oh we are so poor” prater … come here, work for 10 hours to earn your bread or to feed your family, then you can complain about how poor you are….

Here, people want to work, no matter what kind of work. The only thing they do not want is to have to sit around and wait…
I think pictures say more than words….
Finally, we went for lunch at 15:30. Traditional food. There was Mukimo, which is puréed corn and potatoes and similar vegetables like spinach and is served as a large ball, plus there was Terere which is like spinach, chicken and finally a cup of soup….. I love this food, absolutely delicious. ..
