Review of the week…

On Wednesday I first went to the city to check the prices for the water installation. Whenever I’m on the road for Home of Smile, I bargain for every shilling. It is fun now and of course I know that I still do not get the best price, but I’m already close. They always smile when the “Muzungu” comes. Then I went back to the construction site, where we had a meeting with the Comitee of HoS. Previously I’ve checked whether the scheduled work at the house was done right. I was allowed to change a few things.
The base plate for the septic tank was cast and a couple more foundations were plastered. The workers also started plastering in Susan’s room and the office. Water is still our major challenge, as the continuous supply is missing.
Thursday we went on with the plastering of the premises and foundations. The brickwork on the septic tank have begun. On the farm tomato plants were set.
Friday, the one wall of the hall was embellished, construction formwork removed and shuttered the ring beam of the Guest House. The septic tank was further bricked.
Today the ring beam was concreted and the brickwork at the septic tank was finished. One door was already set.
Of course there was a lot more done in the meantime than I can write here. The evenings are now used until the darkness arrives. Today we had to carry the water with the oxcart the whole day, which of course also costs time, manpower and money.
On Monday, we will start with the roof. The next week will require our whole power again, which we have already got used to :). Friday will be a special day….. We will come back to this on Thursday….
No, we will not get bored here. Also it is nice and warm now…
